A modern tale of fortune-hunting in the world of West Texas oil rigs
See the most popular movies and TV shows by writer/director Taylor Sheridan on IMDb, ranked by user ratings. A landman, at least one who works in the oil industry, will be the middleman between exploration companies and landowners. Typically, a landowner’s job involves negotiating and finalizing agreements with landowners who hold mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. They are essentially the managers of the land and securing leases so that oil and gas can be drilled.
They are well written and funny
Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, housing for workers (man camp), assemble mining machinery, and drill the well itself, especially in remote locations. They are also part fixer, problem solver, and facilitator. Mentioned in CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode #44.24 (2022). Apparently I have a soft spot for Taylor Sheridan’s performances.
It is blatantly gratuitous
I would happily watch anything with his brand at this point. But what about the girl in lingerie and her horrific sexualization? It is incredibly weird how awful she is in this. It is almost so off-putting that you don’t want to watch.
The ex-wife is just ugggh
So far I am invested in this story. I also don’t understand why these women are so completely different. It is a real head scratcher. Is the show just focused on drawing men?
I love Billy Bob
He is always on point.
